Whether you’re logging into the client portal, trading on MetaTrader 5 (M T5), or using cTrader, this article will walk you through everything you need to know about setting and resetting passwords. Let’s get started.

Client Portal Password Management

The XBTFX client portal, accessible at https://my.xbtfx.io/en/auth/sign-in, serves as the central hub for account management. Your client portal password is distinct from those used for trading platforms.

Resetting Your Client Portal Password

If you’ve forgotten your password:

  1. Select Forgot Password.

  2. Enter the email address associated with your account and submit the request.

  3. Check your email inbox for a password reset link and follow the provided instructions.

Troubleshooting Email Delivery Issues

  • Spam/Junk Folder: If the reset email does not appear in your inbox, please inspect your spam or junk folder.

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) Password Configuration

Each MT5 trading account with XBTFX requires its own password, separate from your client portal credentials. MT5 supports two password types:

  • Master Password: Provides unrestricted access, enabling trading, order modifications, and full account management.

  • Investor Password: Grants read-only access, allowing users to view account activity (e.g., open and closed trades) without the ability to execute trades.

Updating MT5 Passwords via the Client Portal

To modify an MT5 password:

  1. Log in to https://my.xbtfx.io/en/auth/sign-in using your client portal credentials.

  2. Proceed to Platforms > MT5 (direct link: https://my.xbtfx.io/en/platforms/mt5).

  3. Select the desired MT5 account.

  4. Access the Settings tab.

  5. Click Change Password.

  6. Specify whether to update the Master Password or Investor Password.

  7. Input the new password and save your changes. A confirmation email will be sent to your registered address.

Updating MT5 Passwords via the Terminal

Desktop Terminal

  1. Launch the MT5 desktop application and log in with your current master password.

  2. In the Navigator panel, right-click your account number.

  3. Choose Change Password from the menu.

  4. Select either Master Password or Investor Password.

  5. Provide your current password, then enter and confirm the new password.

  6. Click OK to apply the changes.

Mobile Terminal

  1. Open the MT5 mobile app and sign in with your master password.

  2. Tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines, typically in the top-right corner).

  3. Select Manage Accounts.

  4. Choose the account, tap the three-dot menu, and select Change Password.

  5. Indicate the password type, enter the current password, and set the new one.

  6. Confirm to save the update.


cTrader Password and Account Access

XBTFX clients can access the cTrader platform at app.xbtfx.io. cTrader accounts are linked to a cTrader ID, a unified login credential managed by Spotware, the platform’s developer. This ID consolidates access to all cTrader accounts across supported brokers.

Resetting Your cTrader Password

As the cTrader ID is administered by Spotware, password resets are processed through their system:

  1. Visit app.xbtfx.io or the official cTrader login page.

  2. Click Forgot Password on the login screen.

  3. Enter the email address tied to your cTrader ID.

  4. Follow the reset instructions delivered to your inbox by Spotware.

  5. Use the updated password to log in to app.xbtfx.io and access your XBTFX cTrader account.

Note: The cTrader password is independent of your XBTFX client portal and MT5 credentials. If you encounter issues specific to your XBTFX cTrader account (not the cTrader ID), please contact XBTFX support for resolution.


Best Practices for Password Management

  • Distinct Credentials: Maintain separate passwords for the client portal, MT5 accounts, and cTrader to enhance security.

  • Master vs. Investor Access: Use the master password for active trading and the investor password for read-only monitoring (MT5 only).

  • Email Verification: Confirm the accuracy of your email address and check spam folders when awaiting reset instructions.
